If you began your studies at another Spanish university and have not completed them, you can transfer your file and apply for admission to continue the same studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
- If the studies you wish to continue are undergraduate, you must have passed at least 30 basic training credits of the degree syllabus.
- If the studies you wish to continue are for degrees not adapted to the European Higher Education Area (engineering, diploma, degree, teacher, technical engineering), you must apply for admission to continue studies in the degree that replaces your qualification. In this case, you must have passed 60 credits of the degree you were doing (core, compulsory or optional) or have completed the entire first academic year if the degree is not structured in credits
- If you have done your studies in private or Catholic Church universities, in addition to the above requirements, you must have an admission to the university equal to or greater than that of the last student who obtained the degree of your interest the year before.
You must submit a complete academic certificate including all the subjects taken, passed or not, the scores obtained, the number of credits and the calls used.
If you are a student of the University of Santiago de Compostela and you have passed 30 credits of basic training in one of the degrees that make up a double degree programme, you can apply to continue your studies in the corresponding double degree programme. In order to be admitted to the double degree, it is also an indispensable requirement to have a university entrance qualification higher than that of the last student who obtained the same double degree in the previous year.
For degrees with a limit of places for continuing studies, places are allocated according to the average score of the academic record of the degree you wish to continue.
If you are a student at a foreign university and wish to continue an undergraduate studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela, you must apply for partial recognition of your studies in accordance with the following requirements:
- Only applications to continue the same studies already started in another country will be accepted. If the title of the degree is different, the Validation Commission will decide whether the studies you have taken give you the same academic skills.
- To be admitted, a minimum of 30 credits must be recognised in subjects of the degree in which you are applying to continue studies.
In degrees with a limited number of places, if the number of applications is higher, the number of credits validated will be assessed.
If you come from a foreign country whose official language is not Spanish or Portuguese and you want to study for an undergraduate, master's degree or PhD programme, you will have to take into account the requirements of knowledge of Spanish or Galician that are demanded in each case.
If a language level is required to access the degree, the valid certifications to accredit knowledge of Spanish and Galician languages are DELE, Celga, SIELE.
Undergraduate degree courses
You must accredit your knowledge of the Spanish language with a level B1 degree or higher issued by the Instituto Cervantes, except for the degree in Spanish Language and Literature, for which you must accredit a level B2 or higher.
In the case of Galician, the accreditation must be done by means of a Celga II qualification, according to the Order of the Consellería de Presidencia, Administraciones Públicas y Justicia de la Xunta de Galicia of 16 July 2007, which regulates the official certificates accrediting the levels of knowledge of the Galician language (Celga), modified by the Order of 10 February 2014 of the Consellería de Cultura, Educación y Ordenación Universitaria.
If you do not have this qualification, the USC will make you take a knowledge test for Spanish or Galician before the start of your studies. In the case of not passing the test, you will have to modify your enrolment and you will only be able to register for a maximum of 25% of the credits of the first semester, and you will have to carry out simultaneously a compulsory Intensive Spanish or Galician Course up to the required level, which will be necessary for you to enrol in the second semester.
Excluded from this requirement are students from Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries and those with degrees taught mainly in other languages.
Master’s Degrees Courses
The committee for each master's degree must indicate the level of knowledge of Spanish or Galician required to access these studies. If nothing is indicated, it is understood that this requirement is not applicable. Students from Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries are excluded from this requirement.
PhD Teachings
A minimum level of knowledge of Galician or Spanish is not required. It is the responsibility of the students to know the language or languages in which the programme of these studies is to be carried out.

If you come from a foreign university, you can apply for the degrees listed in the ANNEX VI of the enrolment call.
The application for admission must be submitted to the electronic headquarters of the USC. If it is impossible to process it at the website, it may be submitted in person at the following address Academic Management Unit that corresponds according to the degree, through the diplomatic representations or consular offices of Spain abroad by means of the following form or in the places collected in the Law 39/2015 of 1 October 2015 on Common Administrative Procedure for Public Administrations. An application which is not submitted by these means will not be accepted.
To complete the application, you must make the established payment, within the period set for making the application, through the application by selecting the option "Prices for academic-administrative services".
If you do not pay the aforementioned amount within this period, your application will not be accepted for processing.
Documentation
- Application indicating the studies to be carried out and the subjects of the USC curriculum to be recognised. It will not be possible to admit an application without the proposal of equivalence by the student.
- Copy of National Id (DNI), Foreign residency Card (NIE) or passport
- Academic certification of the university studies carried out, including the number of subjects and credits passed in the university of origin, the teaching load and the system of qualifications of origin. Documents issued in a foreign language must be accompanied by an official translation into Galician or Spanish.
- The curriculum and programme of the subjects passed indicating extension and contents with original signature.
- Affidavit of not having requested the validation or equivalence in the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (only people with a university degree).
This documentation must be presented, together with proof of payment, within the established period, and documentation issued after the end of the application period will not be accepted.
With the application you must submit the supporting documentation, and copies of non-legalised certifications will be accepted for this purpose. At the time of enrolment, once you are admitted to continue studies, you must submit the documentation properly legalized and translated, along with the originals.
Once you have been notified of admission, you must register within the deadline set on the Virtual Secretary.
