Summary
This study seeks to analyse Spain's role in the Western rearmament process within the framework of NATO and the European Union by assessing the degree of alignment between Spanish defence policy and that of its European and Atlantic partners. To this end, a qualitative approach based on documentary and bibliographic analysis is chosen. The study is based on a theoretical framework specific to international relations, focusing on the analysis of alliances and security communities, from which the European strategic context and its impact on national decisions will be examined. After this, the Spanish case is addressed, taking into account its commitments, capabilities and limitations, concluding with a critical assessment of the results obtained.
