End of Degree Project

The Degrees conclude with the preparation and defence of an End of Degree Project (EDP) that must be carried out in the final stage of the studies and will be oriented towards the assessment of the competences associated with the degree.

The EDP will consist of the preparation of an original academic work in which the knowledge, capacities, competences and skills acquired during the studies carried out in the degree courses are integrated and developed and will include, at least, tasks of search and bibliographical revision, reading and integration of information, writing, presentation and defence.

EDP Coordination

Students who wish to defend their EDP must make the application for defence through their Virtual Secretariat within the deadlines established by the Faculty to that effect for each opportunity. At the time of application, the system will require the following information to be specified in Galician, Spanish and English: title, summary and key words (it is very important to respect the orthographic and linguistic criteria set out in the USC General Secretariat Instruction 3/2017 in this respect).

There is an option to relate the EDP to one or more subjects of the degree, but it is not compulsory.

At the time of application, it is also necessary to select the option of defence before a tutor or tribunal.

Within the deadlines established by the Faculty for each opportunity, students who made the application for defence must register the project, uploading it in PDF through the Virtual Secretariat (if the work is not attached when the application is made, it must be re-entered to provide it).

In addition, students who choose to defend themselves in a tribunal must submit three printed and bound copies of their EDP to the Secretary's Office of the Dean's Office within the same time frame established for the submission of the EDP through the Virtual Secretariat (it should be noted that, although the PDF can be attached to the EDP through the Virtual Secretariat until 23:59 on the last day, it must be submitted to the Secretary's Office between 9.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.).

Students who choose to defend themselves in front of their tutor do not have to present the EDP to the Dean's Office. They only have to give the tutor the printed work if required.

The defences will always be public. In the case of defences before a tutor, it will be the tutor who decides the date and summons the defence, within the dates set in the calendar.

In the case of defences before a tribunal, after the deadline for filing the EDP, the composition of the tribunal and the specific dates, times and places of the defence will be published within the calendar.

An application only gives the right to defend the project at the opportunity in question. If, despite having made the application, the EDP is finally not defended or is suspended at that time, a new application (and registration) must be made if you wish to defend it at another time in the same academic year. If it were a different academic year, you would have to re-enrol. In each academic year there are three defence opportunities (February, July and September), of which students are entitled to a maximum of two.

In the case of a group EDP, all group members must apply and upload the PDF with the EDP through the Virtual Secretariat. If the defence is before a tribunal, three hard copies of the EDP must be filed with the Secretary's Office. In the event that any member of the group is unable to make the defence (because they do not meet the conditions for completion), the other members of the group may equally defend it. The member, who cannot defend it at the same time as the others, must make a new application when the conditions are right, re-submit the same EDP and defend it alone.

It is important to carefully read the documents related to the EDP (regulations, teaching guide, APA rules, etc.) and take special care to respect the requirements concerning the cover page of the EDP.
