Core and general competences
CG 5 – To recognize their own limitations and the need to maintain and update their professional competence, paying special attention.
importance to the autonomous learning of new knowledge and techniques and to the motivation for quality.
CG 6 – To develop professional practice with respect to other health professionals, acquiring teamwork skills.
CG 7 – To understand and recognize the normal structure and function of the human body, at the molecular, cellular, tissue, organic and systems level, in the different stages of life and in both sexes.
CG 9 – To understand and recognize the effects, mechanisms and manifestations of disease on the structure and function of the human body.
GC 23 – To communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing, with patients, family members, other professionals and the media.
CG 31 – To know, critically evaluate, and be able to use clinical and biomedical information sources to obtain, organize, interpret, and communicate scientific and health information.
CG 36 – To be able to formulate hypotheses, collect and critically evaluate information for problem solving, following the scientific method.
CG 37 – To acquire the basic training for research activity.
Specific competences
CEMIV.40 – To practice elementary surgical procedures: cleaning, hemostasis and suturing of wounds.
CEMIV.41 – To perform surgical procedures for obtaining and handling biological samples and for the administration of drugs.
Teaching will be done through master classes and interactive activities. The participation of students and an open approach to all questions that may arise will be encouraged. In the interactive classes, autonomous learning will be promoted, and students will work individually and in groups. The participation and attitude of the student in the activities programmed during the course will be monitored. Individualized tutorials will be carried out for learning orientation and resolution of doubts and a public tutorial forum will be set up in the virtual classroom of the subject.
Attendance to expository and interactive classes is an indispensable requirement to pass the course (minimum 80%). The attitude of the student and the performance and content of the activities programmed during the course will be valued. These aspects will be considered as part of the continuous assessment, which will account for up to 60% of the overall grade.
Students will be able to take a final exam on the contents presented in the expository and interactive classes, which will represent up to 40% of the overall grade.
In the case of fraudulent exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations on the Evaluation of Students' Academic Performance and Grade Review will apply (Resolution of 15 June 2011, DOG of 21 July 2011).
3 ECTS credits:
- Expository classes: 18 hours of attendance
- Interactive: 10 hours of attendance
- Tutorials: 1 hour.
- Test: 1 hour.
- Student's personal work: 45 hours.
To carry out an active learning of the knowledge that is acquired with the development of the agenda, using organized schemes, and making links between own and new knowledge. In addition, active participation in classes, periodic study and the use of tutorial hours are recommended. It is important that the student becomes aware of the importance of understanding the concepts and the methods and techniques described, in order to develop skills for their application to practical problems in their future professional life.
To get the most out of the course, it is recommended that students have previous knowledge of cell biology and embryology, English to handle the bibliography/teaching resources and skills in the use of information and communication technologies. Students will have access to the virtual classroom of the course on Moodle platform, with the resources and communication channels it offers. In addition, Microsoft Teams application and e-mail can be used for teacher-student communication.
