Periodontal disease is an infection that affects the supporting tissues of the teeth, destroying them in a way that causes their loss. The prevalence of moderate forms is estimated at 40% of adults, although only 10-15% of the population is affected in its most advanced form. Periodontal treatment consists of the elimination of the infection that causes the destruction of the supporting tissues of the teeth, the maintenance of the periodontal health obtained, as well as the replacement of lost teeth, through the placement of dental implants.
At present, basic training on this pathology and its treatment is offered in the degree program in Dentistry. But given its high prevalence in the population, it is important to offer advanced training in this area.
The methodology will be based on master classes, seminars, practices on phantoms and pig jaws and surgeries on patients broadcast live.
