Student Recruitment Actions

The Faculty of Communication Sciences carries out its recruitment actions within the framework of the institutional recruitment program that the University of Santiago de Compostela possesses, while taking into account the defined profile for admission to our programs and the corresponding number of available slots.

Additionally, the Faculty disseminates all information that allows promoting among the university community and the professional sector the successful participation of our students in different events. In this sense, the involvement of the professional sector, as potential employers, in the knowledge and recognition of our programs constitutes a priority task for this institution.

The Faculty of Communication Sciences maintains a direct relationship with all professional associations of journalists and with the 151 communication companies with which it has signed internships agreements and which, therefore, offer and evaluate internships for our students, visit our center, and have direct information about our curricula.

In addition to this regular level of communication, the Deanship holds at least one annual meeting with the directors of the Colexio Profesional de Xornalistas de Galicia (Professional Association of Journalists of Galicia,) an organization with which we share the "Nacho Mirás" scholarship (awarded to recently graduated students), with the Press Associations of A Coruña and Santiago, and with the management of the most relevant media outlets: CRTVG, La Voz de Galicia, El Correo Gallego, El Progreso, and La Región. These contacts aim to gain a deeper understanding of our curricula, the needs of companies regarding the training of future professionals, and to receive information about the monitoring of the work carried out by our students during internships.

The program "A Ponte entre o Ensino Medio e a USC” aims to serve as a bridge between high school students and the USC to inform and guide future university students, with the goal of enabling them to choose the studies that best suit their preferences.

The program has been operating in a structured manner since the 2003-2004 academic year and aims to showcase the academic offerings and the research, social, cultural, and spatial context of the University where these studies take place.

The main focus is on disseminating information about the University of Santiago de Compostela – its degrees, research, academic services – but also about the environment in which university activities take place – residential, cultural, sports, and associative services, among others. Ultimately, it aims to convey what life is like at a university located in the heart of two historic cities (Lugo and Santiago de Compostela).

The "A Ponte" program is structured into three key subprograms, framed within an introductory activity and a closing one. It also organizes other complementary or supportive initiatives that allow for the implementation of the key subprograms or that collaborate in emphasizing and amplifying the idea of the university we are building.

The key subprograms are:

  • VISITS by USC to High Schools in Galicia
  • Thematic TALKS
  • ENCOUNTERS in the USC Area

The Faculty of Communication Sciences has social media profiles on Instagram (@facom_usc), X -previously Twitter- (@facom_usc), Facebook (@facom_usc), and LinkedIn (FaCom USC). The center uses these channels for promoting its degrees, events, and activities organized or promoted by students or faculty of the faculty and the professional or academic achievements of the members of the "FaCom" community. In addition, social media serves as a tool for attracting future students thanks to the audiovisual content (Reels) that we disseminate about the experience of our students in their internships in communication sector companies and about the professional trajectory of the alumni of this faculty.

Awards for "Linguistic Quality 2022"

The multimedia report "Reportaxe multimedia: O val de Tebra – Os fíos da historia –" by Christian Villaverde de la Cruz, which competed in the 2022 Linguistic Quality Awards, received a mention in this edition.

These awards value the appropriate presentation of works (academic, Bachelor's and Master's theses) from a formal point of view —which includes linguistic aspects, information structuring, writing, design, coherence, etc.—, ultimately evaluating a communicative skill that you, as a tutor, notably fostered.
