There are three types of work placements at the Faculty of Veterinary Science: Supervised work placements (Clinical Internships, Non-Clinical Internships and Hospital Clinical Rotation); External Work Placements and Field Work Placements.
The programme for the Degree in Veterinary Science includes a total of 24 credits in compulsory supervised work placements, with an 85% on -site attendance by the student, distributed in 3 disciplines:
- Hospital Clinical Rotation: 7 credits in clinical rotation in the different services of the Rof-Codina University Veterinary Hospital, with a final assessment of skills.
- Clinical Internships: 9 credits of an internship in external clinics or clinical research activity in veterinary medicine, with a final assessment of skills.
- Non-Clinical Internships: 8 credits for an internship in farms for the production of food animals, pilot plants, slaughterhouses, veterinary laboratories, agri-food industries and with professionals of the Official Veterinary Services, or undertaking research activity in veterinary medicine with a final assessment of skills.
In addition, students can have a maximum of 6 credits recognised by undertaking optional external work placements.
The Master's Degree includes a compulsory 9 ECTS of External Work Placements to be carried out in the second semester.
This subject's objectives are:
- To acquire the ability to integrate into a work team.
- To promote critical analysis through immersion in the world of work.
- To get to know the daily problems that arise in companies and laboratories working in different aspects of genetics and genomics.
