Know and understand the different forms of renewable energy used in human activities and the techniques used in its transformation and its final uses.
Know, understand, and know how to apply to their economic aspects, the energy management, energy auditing and energy saving programs.
Know how to apply the selection opportunities that arise to meet the energy needs of any productive sector based on the technical, economic, social, and environmental circumstances involved.
- Introduction to energy technology.
- Thermal and photovoltaic solar energy.
- Hydroelectric energy.
- Wind energy.
- Biomass and other renewable energy.
- Provisioning and storage of energy.
- Electric power management in industry.
- High efficiency energy technologies.
PRACTICAL CONTENTS
- Development of a project for the energy characterization of biomass as a source of biogas.

BASIC AND GENERAL
CG3 - Knowledge in basic and technological subjects, which enables them to learn new methods and theories, and gives them the versatility to adapt to new situations.
CG5 - Knowledge for carrying out measurements, calculations, evaluations, appraisals, surveys, studies, reports, work plans and other similar work.
CB2 - That students know how to apply their knowledge to their work or vocation in a professional way and possess the skills that are usually demonstrated through the elaboration and defense of arguments and the resolution of problems within their area of study.
TRANSVERSAL
CT1 - Analysis and synthesis capacity
CT4 - Ability to work in a team
CT5 - Demonstrate ethical commitment
CT8 - Ability to use information and communication technologies
CT15 - Ability for oral and written communication
SPECIFIC
CEOP11 - Knowledge and skills that allow understanding, analyzing, exploiting, and managing the different renewable energy sources.
In theory classes (24 hours) the theoretical concepts established in the subject program are explained, trying to follow a methodology that facilitates the acquisition of knowledge by students. Active student participation will be sought.
In the seminar classes (12 hours) issues and problems will be analyzed and discussed, which can be done individually or in groups.
Individual tutorials will be carried out to clarify problems and questions of each student, as well as tutorials in the classrooms in small groups (3 hours) where the understanding and difficulties that the students have had about the different knowledge acquired will be monitored, trying to solve all doubts and problems that have arisen. Tasks for reflection and application to real-life industrial sectors will also be proposed.
In the practical sessions (12 hours), of compulsory attendance, the knowledge and concepts acquired by the student in the theoretical and seminar classes are applied. The practices will be carried out in the laboratory in groups of two students.
The virtual campus will be used to upload various contents and work proposals to be carried out by the student.
Elements that will be evaluated, indicating the weighting of each one on the final grade (1st parenthesis) and the competencies evaluated (2nd parenthesis):
- Final exam (45%) (CB2, CG3, CG5, CT1, CT15, CEOP11).
- Practices (15%) (CB2, CG3, CG5, CT1, CT4, CT5, CT8, CT15, CEOP11). The practice report that each group must carry out and defend orally will be evaluated.
- Classroom participation and classroom activities (25%) (CB2, CG3, CG5, CT1, CT4, CT15, CEOP11).
- Individual completion of a final project, which will be presented orally in the classroom (15%) (CB2, CG3, CG5, CT1, CT5, CT8, CT15, CEOP11).
To pass the subject, it is required that the sum of the scores obtained in the four previous elements is greater than or equal to 5.
For cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions of the "Regulations for evaluating academic performance of students and reviewing grades" will apply.
For the monitoring and understanding of the contents of the subject, students must spend 40 hours for expository teaching, 28 hours for carrying out the proposed work (exercise bulletins, tasks on the virtual campus and memory of practices), and 3 hours for group tutorials. For the preparation and execution of the exam, 16 and 4 hours, respectively, will be necessary.
- Carry out the exercises and proposed questions.
- Consult the books recommended by the teacher.
The subject will be taught in Spanish and Galician.
