The student must be able to:
Acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Aesthetic Dentistry and its relationship with other medical and dental sciences.
· Diagnose the alterations that affect the harmony of the smile.
· Differentiate the therapeutic possibilities to restore predictable aesthetic and functional results.
· Manage and apply techniques that improve communication with the patient.
· Execute appropriate therapeutic maneuvers to carry out treatments with teeth whitening techniques.
Lesson 1. Presentation. Beauty concept. History. The philosophy of beauty. Origins of aesthetics and perception.
Lesson 2. Photography in Dentistry.
Lesson 3. Facial aesthetics. Evolution and acceptance of change due to age. Smile analysis. Smile concept. Visual perception. Alterations and their therapeutic possibilities.
Lesson 3: Aesthetics of the unitary tooth. Contents: Dental macro and micromorphology of interest in Dental Aesthetics.
Lesson 4. Headband closure
Lesson 5. Optical correction of mild dental malposition.
Lesson 6. Aesthetic recontouring. Indications and contraindications. Clinical technique.
Lesson 7. Color. General concepts. Color measurement in Dentistry.
Lesson 8. Whitening. Treatment of dental discolorations. Techniques for the treatment of color changes: Microabrasion of enamel. Vital whitening techniques. Non-vital whitening.
Lesson 9. Direct composite restorations. Previous sector. Direct restorations of the previous sector. Class IV injury restorations. Laminate fronts: methodology of color and shape change.
Lesson 10. Direct composite restorations in the posterior sector. Aesthetics in the posterior sector.
Unit 11. Indirect restorations. Ceramic veneers. Contents: The ceramic veneers. Preparation. Impressions, laboratory and cementation.
Unit 12. Indirect restorations. Inlays and onlays. Contents: Aesthetic inlays and onlays. Indications. Endocoronas. Clinical methodology of the preparation. Occlusal adjustment and cementation.

The student will be able to assess the aesthetics of the lower third of the face.
Analyze the dental position and occlusal planes.
Convey the characteristics of shape and color of the teeth.
Indicate aesthetic restorations according to their biomechanical and aesthetic needs.
PRESENTIAL
The theoretical program will be given through master classes.
The seminars will discuss clinical cases adapted to the contents of the program as well as the analysis and solution of problems interactively between students and the teacher.
In the practices, the knowledge acquired will be applied in a practical way.
In the tutorials the teacher will personally attend to the students to guide them and resolve any doubts they may have. The tutorials will be essentially face-to-face, although they may be carried out electronically.
- Compulsory attendance at 90% of the practical activity and 80% of the theoretical classes to pass the subject.
- Practical content 30%: Continuous assessment: Participation and the acquisition of knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to obtain the expected competences will be valued throughout the course, both in face-to-face and personal work. It will correspond to 30% of the final grade.
-Theoretical content 70%: 1 Written multiple-choice exam (at the end of the semester). It will correspond to 70% of the final grade.
Guided or unguided activities, in which the subject is deepened
General mandatory rules:
- It is compulsory to attend the practices with the CORRECT PROTECTION on the part of the student, that is: clean gown, mask and disposable gloves, being highly recommended the use of protective glasses.
- Theoretical classes and practices must begin with TIMELINESS: once started, no student will be able to join them.
- Those who do not follow the correct STERILIZATION rules and are not in possession of the INSTRUMENTAL will not be able to carry out the practices.
