Selection system
Undergraduate medical students studying at the European University of Georgia.
1) Identify cardiac arrest. 2) Perform initial basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). 3) Perform appropriate advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in a structured and coordinated manner with colleagues, according to the algorithm described in the clinical practice guidelines. 4) Diagnose and treat acute coronary syndrome correctly. 5) Diagnose and treat acute complications of acute coronary syndrome correctly. 6) Diagnose and treat arrhythmias correctly, understanding the indications for pharmacological and electrical treatment. 7) Use the monitor/defibrillator correctly, in all its functions: defibrillator, electrical cardioversion, and pacemaker. 8) Perform a correct approach and management of the polytrauma patient, according to the XABC protocol of the ATLS guidelines.
Evaluation
Student assessment will be conducted by instructors who will confirm the acquisition of skills and achievement of the learning outcomes described above. This assessment will take place during both practical training sessions and simulation sessions.
Tutoring
Student study of clinical practice guidelines (8 hours, not included in the total hours) on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, acute coronary syndrome, or the management of bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias. o ATLS, for the management of the polytraumatized patient. A theoretical review of the clinical practice guidelines will be conducted (10 hours): 1. Basic and advanced management of cardiopulmonary arrest (4 hours) Management of Acute Coronary Syndrome (2 hours) Electrical management of arrhythmias (2h) 4. Management of the polytrauma patient (2 hours) Technical skills practice sessions will be held (15 hours): 5. High-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (7.5 hours) Airway management (1.5 h) 7. Electrical treatment of arrhythmias (1.5 h) 8. Peripheral and intraosseous venous access (1.5 h) Immobilisation and transport procedures (3 h). Simulation scenarios will be developed in which students must work through the clinical case and integrate the knowledge they have acquired (20 h). Total: 36 hours of instruction in English.
