Summary
This dissertation will offer an analysis of the different usage marks in seven general and monolingual dictionaries of Galician from the XXI century: the Dicionario da Real Academia Galega, Digalego, the Gran Dicionario Xerais da Lingua, the Gran Dicionario Século 21 da lingua galega, the Gran Dicionario Cumio da lingua galega, the Dicionario Estraviz and the Dicionario Xerais da Lingua. First, it will explain what usage marks are and the issues that can arise in their delimitation and characterization. Next, we will show the general characteristics of each dictionary and analyze the use of the usage labels made by each of them, noting which labels they use, how they present them, and how they characterize them. Then, a comparison will be made between all the works, examining the differences in the use, presentation, and value of the usage labels. Finally, an analysis will be made of a selection of words and expressions to exemplify the specific use that each dictionary makes of the studied labels.

Summary

Summary
It is undeniable that the world is rapidly changing and so is language. We live in a globalized world in which the use of social media is at its highest, thus influencing people’s lives, behaviours and ways of communication. New words are heard and used, some of them are completely new, but others, which were already around us, are undergoing a process of revival and/or of semantic change. The focus of this research is on the usage of the already existing word demure and how social media, along with the GenZ, has increased its popularity. The word demure, originally meaning “Sober, grave, serious; reserved or composed in demeanour” (OED, s.v. demure, adjective and noun) has been used firstly with the meaning ‘very mindful’ in August 2024, on the popular social media platform TikTok. Taking this observation as point of departure, this study explores the origin of demure and its usage throughout decades using different synchronic and diachronic sources. The OED and the Corpus of Historical American English (COHA) are used to trace its origins whereas Sketch Engine is used explore its current use. Specifically, after collecting and coding the data for a number of variables, a collocation analysis is conducted to explore its frequency, forms and meanings in different contexts. The hypothesis that is put forward is that the word demure is experiencing a number of semantic shifts, including amelioration, from being ‘sober, grave, serious’ to being ‘mindful’.

Summary
The aim of this paper is to focus on the analysis of the most widely used teaching and learning methodologies for Italian as a foreign language (FL/FL) currently applied to adult students who are absolute beginners. The goal is to achieve level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), so the main objective is for students to reach an elementary level that allows them to interact with native speakers in situations and scenarios related to everyday life. The aim of this paper is twofold: first, to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each teaching method and then to propose ways and alternatives to enhance them as teaching resources, analysing the possible interconnections between them. Variables will be provided that can be applied in different classroom learning dynamics, making the most of the different methodologies. This approach is effective for acquiring a good level of expression, both oral and written, and for learning and using basic vocabulary, including idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms. Emphasis will also be placed on the importance of adequate communicative management of certain linguistic-pragmatic and cultural phenomena, the lack of understanding of which could hinder students’ integration into the new sociocultural context and make the daily challenges they face more difficult.

Summary
Legends and stories have always been a part of our culture and are a fundamental pillar. But nowadays, it may seem that their oral transmission is decreasing. In this study, based on a corpus of interviews conducted with different inhabitants of the municipality of A Veiga, we will attempt to account for the mechanisms used for the oral transmission of these stories, and how these affect the extent of people's knowledge about them. In addition, we will also analyze the degree of relevance these stories have in daily life, the purpose of these narratives, and why they are so significant. Starting from five legends already collected, we will embark on a journey through different villages in the municipality of A Veiga, in search of potentially new, previously unrecorded stories and various tales that are part of the culture of a community and go far beyond, for example, the tourist purpose that the most well-known legends might have.the other side of its borders. We will also see how the strong presence of the Catholic Church in our culture influences, as it could not be otherwise, these oral narratives, although they are not free from pagan elements. Figures such as the Moors, snakes, and the devil repeatedly appear in these narratives, fulfilling functions that this work aims to elucidate.

Summary
This final degree project aims to analyse the linguistic phenomenon of false friends, a particularly relevant phenomenon in learning languages that share a common origin with one’s native tongue. Specifically, the research focuses on the difficulties this phenomenon poses for Spanish-speaking students in the acquisition of Italian, as it represents a significant challenge in the assimilation and comprehension of vocabulary. The methodology adopted begins with a theoretical framework that addresses not only false friends, but also other linguistic interferences of a phonetic, grammatical, and pragmatic nature, in order to explore the main obstacles that the Italian language can present. Subsequently, a contrastive analysis is developed between Italian and Spanish, illustrated with examples of false friends taken from dictionaries and specialised materials and organised according to grammatical categories and semantic fields. Other cases of linguistic interferences are also included. Finally, the final degree project offers a series of teaching suggestions consisting of exercises and practical applications, aimed at facilitating students’ identification and correction of errors resulting from false friends. The study concludes with final considerations emerging from the data analysis, based on the differences and similarities between Italian and Spanish, and with a brief indication of possible future research lines to highlight this issue.

Summary
The purpose of this TFG is to provide a metrical commentary on the Carmina by Eugenius of Toledo, who served as bishop of the city from 647 AD until his death during the Visigothic period of the Iberian Peninsula. The Carmina is a work of immense interest and literary value which, unfortunately, has never been the subject of such a study and, furthermore, lacks sufficient critical editions (Vollmer, whose metrical appendix is incomplete, and Alberto). We believe, therefore, that this work represents an interesting and original contribution to the study of the Toledan bishop's oeuvre. Following an introduction to the author's life and work within his historical, literary, and cultural context, the analyzed corpus is presented: a total of one hundred poems. Through their scansion, this study aims to conduct a metrical and stylistic analysis, commenting on the primary metrical patterns and phenomena while identifying potential exceptions to the norm. Whenever possible, the results of this analysis are compared with data from other authors contemporary to Eugenius of Toledo.

Summary
Literary writing is often presented as a strategy for transcending or overcoming the boundaries of life. The concept of literary posterity, in Bennett's modern application, is seen as an inherent condition of literature and is fundamental to studying the ideas of authors of the period on the conception of the work and its significance and permanence over time. Within this framework, the present work aims to analyse the self-construction of posterity in the works of three fundamental authors of the nineteenth-century Spanish canon: Rosalía de Castro, Emilia Pardo Bazán and Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda. Despite the differences in their life circumstances and trajectories, these writers use literature as a valuable tool both to claim their place in the male-dominated canon of their time and to project their work beyond the course of their lives. The research begins with an introduction to the concept of posterity in relation to romantic subjectivity, considering the uniqueness of women writers. The core of the study consists of a detailed analysis of a corpus composed of literary works, articles, personal letters, and paratexts such as prologues or dedications by the aforementioned authors that are particularly significant to the issue. Thus, through the analysis of the texts, this study aims to reveal these authors' considerations about posthumous fame and the way in which their textual expression prefigures the different modes of future reception and survival of the three authors.

Summary
This work analyzes how patriarchy influences the construction of women’s identity in the novel The Bell Jar (1963) by Sylvia Plath. Plath’s work is set in the 1950s, a period in which women were subjected to specific social norms in a historically context strongly marked by patriarchal values. This is reflected in the protagonist’s character, Esther Greenwood, a young woman who is involved in an internal conflict between fulfilling her desires and aspirations and following established norms and expectations. Plath critiques a system that restricts women’ s freedom by rendering Esther's interactions with men, establishing a contrast with the other female characters. Through a feminist lens, the research will focus on key themes such as gender roles, social expectations and patriarchal structures and how they can shape the identity of women, the ways in which they perceived themselves. This study will also deal with how the portrayal of women’s mental health is also determined by patriarchal discourse. The ‘bell jar’ of the title is a central symbol in the novel as it represents the loneliness and confusion that women may suffer for going against what patriarchal society establishes as the norm. By having recourse to feminist theory and criticism, this BA Thesis will also show how Plath's novel goes beyond its time to address women's endless struggle for identity in a patriarchal world, making it relevant to contemporary debates about feminism and gender equality.

Summary
The main objective of this Final Degree Project is to make a qualitative contribution to the intergenerational transmission of the Galician language in families from two representative areas of the province of Lugo: Mariña Lucense and Terra Chá. This area has been chosen because of the interest aroused by its strong linguistic and cultural identity, as well as the diversity of sociolinguistic realities it presents. The aim is to offer a classification of family models based on the processes of language preservation or change over three generations, taking into account social and cultural parameters, as well as the historical and economic context that has influenced the linguistic evolution of these communities. To study this process, use has been made of the works on Galician sociolinguistics that make up the ALFA (A lingua das familias) archive, which provide interesting information on the transmission of Galician among different members of a family unit. On the other hand, quantitative data collected by the IGE (Galician Institute of Statistics) was also consulted to gain a deeper understanding of the use and knowledge of the Galician language.
