The audiovisual media have a huge linguistic responsibility today, as they are the primary model of cultured norm for most of the Spanish speakers. For this purpose, the main objective of this course is the study of the Spanish language and its specific standards, orthography, lexicon and phraseology, with special focus on its use in the production of audiovisual information, both in its spoken and written form; both in its terminology for the expression of ideas and contents, as well as for its use in audiovisual practices, contexts and techniques.
1. Improve speaking and writing in Spanish. Acquire the skills to use Spanish language with correction in a professional career related to the audiovisual field.
2. Reflecting critically on the use of the Spanish language by the media and audiovisual communication.
3. Being aware of the existence of different standards in Spanish. Knowing the most common deviations.
4. Knowing and respecting Spanish varieties for use in characters, writing ads, etc..
5. Knowing linguistic tools that help grammatical and discursive competence in Spanish.
6. Using the appropriate Spanish lexicon in different backgrounds and situations.
7. Knowing the phonic and morphological components of Spanish.
8. Knowing the structure of a text.
9. Recognize literal meaning, pragmatic and extra linguistic factors that affect the use of the language.
1. Basic linguistic concepts: communication, language, standard. Syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations. The linguistic sign. The double articulation.
2. The visual message and basic language skills.
3. Spanish language in the world. The variation in Spanish. Linguistic prejudices. Linguistic stereotypes in films and television.
4. Linguistic components of the audiovisual message.
4.1. Phonics component. The sounds of Spanish. Spanish orthography, phoneme-grapheme relationship.
4.2. Grammatical component. Structure and words formation in Spanish. Words classes in Spanish.
4.3. Lexical component. The organization of the lexicon. Semantic relations between words. Loans,
neologisms.
5. Linguistic standard and normativity.
5.1. Standard language and ideal language. The concept of "prestige".
5.2. The standard code. Dictionaries of Spanish. Grammars. Spellings. Style manuals.
6. Production of texts in Spanish. Coherence, cohesion and textual adaptation.
7. Language and context. Pragmatic features of the audiovisual message.

Al tratarse de una asignatura en extinción, se utilizará el Campus Virtual como herramienta de trabajo, donde se dispondrá de textos para el estudio de la asignatura.
Aunque se trate de una materia sin docencia, el alumno puede solicitar tutorías, solo para aclarar las dudas que hayan surgido en la preparación del examen final. Las tutorías podrán ser presenciales o en línea a través de MSTeams.
