12. To carry out health and hygiene analysis, especially those associated with the food and the environment.
Specific competences:
Q10. To know the principles and procedures has to be designed for the analytical determination of compounds: analytical techniques applied in the water, food and environmental analysis.
MF14. To know the analytical techniques related to laboratory diagnosis, toxic substances, food and environment.
LS01. To know the foundations of public health and participate in health promotion activities, disease prevention in the areas of individual and public health, and can contribute to the health education, recognizing the health determinants of the population, both genetic and affected by gender and lifestyle, demographic and environmental aspects, social and economic factors, as well as physiological and cultural influences.
Transversal competences:
CI03: basic general knowledge
CS01: capacity to apply knowledge in practice
CS03: capacity to learn
CP01: critical and self-critical ability
Lectures
Face-to-face master classes in the classroom, encouraging student intervention, with the support of the Virtual Campus.
Interactive classes
Seminars: Face-to-face in the classroom, with the support of the Virtual Campus. Student work under the tutelage of the teacher to study in detail important aspects of the subject; solving case studies, problems and issues.
Tutorials: for the personalized follow-up of the student, face-to-face or telematic, using the virtual platforms available at USC and e-mail.
The evaluation of the competences acquired in the subject will be:
1. Exam:
- General competences 9 y 12.
- Specific competences Q10, MF14, LS01.
- Transversal competences CI03, CS03.
2. Interactive lessons:
- General competences 9 y 12.
- Specific competences Q10, MF14, LS01.
- Transversal competences CI03, CS01, CS03, CP01.
Evaluation criteria and instruments:
1- Theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject: result of the compulsory final exam; percentage of final grade: 60%. Minimum qualification to add the continuous assessment described in the following section: 4 (out of 10).
2- Follow-up and use of the subject: results of the periodic controls and of the proposed activities; percentage of final grade: 40%.
A new final exam will be conducted for the second chance assessment; the final grade will be calculated in the same way as described for the first opportunity (60% criterion 1 + 40% criterion 2).
At the request of interested students, the assessment of criterion 2 will be saved only for the next year when it exceeds 50% of the maximum grade that can be awarded.
Students with waiver of class attendance: the assessment will be based on a final exam.
For cases of fraudulent conduct of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for the evaluation of students' academic performance and the review of qualifications will apply.
Hours of attendance and self study required to pass the subject:
Attendance:
Lectures: 23 hours

Self-study: 51 hours
Completion of exercises: 12 hours
Orientation and resolution of doubts: 3 hours
Exam review/appeals : 1.5 hours
Total hours of autonomous study: 67.5
Total number of hours: 45 +67,5 = 112.5 hours
Attendance to lectures (face-to-face or virtual) on a regular basis; attendance and participation in interactive classes (face-to-face or virtual); use of resources available on the virtual platform; consultation of the bibliography and realization of the suggested complementary activities; tutorial assistance to address the difficulties being encountered.
