• Proporcionar al estudiante una visión panorámica del desarrollo de la literatura inglesa desde sus orígenes hasta la actualidad.
• Aprender a relacionar la producción literaria de un determinado período con el contexto social, cultural y político en el que tuvo lugar.
• Familiarizar al estudiante con la lectura y la escritura críticas de textos de la literatura inglesa, proporcionándole los instrumentos y métodos filológicos adecuados a tal fin.
